Doubting Wife For Her Virginity

Doubting wife for her virginity
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear Brother, First, i would like to congratulate you on such a fantastic effort, on keeping our community well educated on the beautiful faultless deen of Islam. My question: If one has married a muslim sister, who he well respects and is from a good family, if he is in doubt if the girl was a virgin prior to their marriage, what should he do? If the girl denies having commited the sin of zinna, what punishment is held for her (if she did commit) for lying to her husband, and keeping such a secret? I wait for your prompt reply Inshaallah. Wa salamualaykom - warahmatallah. P.S. Please dont show/disclose my name or email address upon forwarding your answer to our brothers and sisters - please.

Answer:

Doubting wife for her virginity

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

One of the most dangerous ploys of Shaitaan is to sow distrust between a husband and a wife, so that he may destroy the sacred institution of marriage.

Your Question: If one has married a muslim sister, who he well respects and is from a good family, if he is in doubt if the girl was a virgin prior to their marriage, what should he do?

The husband should fear Allah Subhanah and seek refuge in Allah from the instigations of Shaitaan. As is the principle in Islam, one should never take actions on the basis of doubts. Only if he is absolutely convinced he should take action; but only on a doubt he should not react at all. And if his wife denies the accusation, he should believe her and treat her with the honor and respect she deserves.

Your Question: If the girl denies having commited the sin of zinna, what punishment is held for her (if she did commit) for lying to her husband, and keeping such a secret?
If the wife is indeed guilty of the sin of zina prior to her marriage, and she has not repented to Allah Subhanah for her past deeds; she will have a severe accounting in the Court of Allah Subhanah on an Inevitable Day. But if she has made sincere Taubah and repentance to the Merciful Lord, it is expected that she will find her Lord Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful. If for any reason the husband finds out after marriage that his wife indeed committed zina prior to their marriage, and is convinced she has repented to Allah Subhanah for her mistake, he too should forgive her and leave the past in the past.
